My First Real CRHunt, Key Find!
Hi guys,
lol. Finally. Yes, finally. Found a significant key coin while coin roll hunting. Nothing huge or earth shaking but a Key Coin, nevertheless! Sure, I have found many varieties but really no key dates, whatsoever. Until NOW!
It's the first year Lincoln Cent. With the famous important initials, V.D.B. Yes guys, you guessed it.
The 1909 V.D.B.
No, not with the "S".
The darn coin is in awesome condition for over 110 years old! Sure, I have found 1909 Lincolns before while CRHunting, but never with the V.D.B. initials.
One of my greatest finds. Thanks
In only the 15th roll of 50 too. Who knows, what else?

Another One
This one's initials are even more bolder.
Once again, in pretty good condition.

The true key and semi-key dates were pretty much all gone from circulation by 1963. The great coin collecting boom of the late 1950's and early 1960s took care of that. During the summer of 1962 I probably went through an average of close to one bag of cents each day. 1909 VDB cents, when found, were seldom in more than VG condition and most were only GOOD or worse. Cents circulated heavily in that period and the coins received a lot of wear.
@joeykoins .... Nice finds... and TWO!! You are on a roll (well, in rolls anyway
) Cheers, RickO
Great finds, Joey! I hope the rolls keep getting better!
