I found a weird penny.

Hello. I was digging through my change bucket and I found an odd penny. It's a 1941 wheat penny, but it doesn't have a mint mark and the date is messed up on the coin. Seeing as I'm not a coin aficionado, I don't know what that means. Can someone help me?

Pictures of the coin would be great.
Edited to say welcome to the forum
It not having a mintmark means it is a Philadelphia minted coin. As for the date “being messed up” it’s almost certainly just damage but the best thing is to get a picture of it and post it. If you can host it somewhere like with google pics you can link it here or wait until your account is verified and then post it here directly.
Why do you think the coin should have a mint mark?
The date being messed up is a direct result of 80+ years of circulation.
Just a sec, let me get a photo
Probably because in modern times people have gotten used to P mintmarks. Not everyone realizes that is a relatively recent thing.

The only year a P mint mark was on a cent coin was 2017 so that can't be it.
You’re right, I was thinking of the clad stuff. But still people might think of it being common now.
yeah post mint damage another coin looks like it hit your coin and damaged it

Good photo.
That coin took one or more hits and the gouges scraped the "1".
If it's just a penny and doesn't mean anything significant, that's fine. I was just curious about it and figured I'd ask people who would know. Thank you all!
Post on itsy - worth millions
Though surely post mint damage, it does definitely have some unique damage.
@InfinitexEight.... Welcome aboard. Definitely Post Mint Damage (PMD). Great picture. Cheers, RickO
