This beautiful MS 66+ Buffalo nickel reached $1500 at Great Collections this evening among 3 fierce bidders, well exceeding MS 67 money. What’s your take on this? Is this the variety DDR-FS 1802

    2 people really wanted it.

    That’s all it takes.

if you blow up the TruView it looks like they got the DDR FS-1802 which is a SCORE

I think the competing bidders are betting on the DDR... Blowing up the images of the TruView, I still am not sure.... Could be an expensive gamble. Cheers, RickO

I think the coin speaks louder than the doubling. It’s an extremely beautiful piece is my vote.

It’s not. It’s the look alike die for the variety and it’ll end up a bust. Here’s my graded one at a similar distance, you should be able to see the difference when you zoom in, especially under the U. This variety is very hard to cherrypick and it was my first thought when I saw the thread, but I didn’t see any doubling.

It's not fs-1802. The doubling on 1802 also manifests itself on the rear legs of Black Diamond.

Thinly outlined to the right. Noticeable if one knows what to look for.

The OP coin is just an amazingly beautiful shiny reflective example of Frasers art.
