I have not seen a PCGS like this before.

Have you?
I try not to be left out in the dark about the innovations of PCGS. Apparently, I am.
What do you think of it?

Same holder as they are using for the GSA'a.
I would rather have a band like they do ats.imho
I don't like the bands for 2 reasons. 1 GSA's are so easy to crack and at least the PCGS holder protects them. 2 Have you ever tried to remove 1?
just another bigger box you will need for your collection
I don't understand? I sent in the black box that said that and they removed them and encapsulated.
They have been doing using this holder for quite some time. I would rather they just put a band around the holder like a couple other companies and then it will still fit in the original box.
Agreed.

See the "GSA/IKE Holder" approximately half way down the page ...
Edited for clarity.
First I have seen an Ike dollar encapsulated like that.... Looks nice. Cheers, RickO

Based on your experience, it appears that the "standard" holder is the default. IOW, if you want the GSA holder 'retained/encapsulated', you have to specifically request it (and pay the "oversized" holder fee).
Mine are just fine in a standard holder. I didn't know they were doing that. Pcgs has changed the last 20 years.
I see these often. Mostly on GC's site and on eBay with the Morgans. Also as pointed out up above, I too like the bands better as I get to keep mine in the original GSA box.
