New to collecting, interesting 1944 Lincoln Wheat penny

New to collecting and just found this in circulation. Was curious if this is just an example of a reaction on the penny with the copper and zinc to turning into brass, or if there's something else going on with this coin.

    It looks like it was plated. No collector value or interest.

    It looks gold plated. I see so many Indian cents like that as well as Buffalo nickels. It was probably a Littleton special.

    That is not something that Littleton would sell. The coins Littleton provides are correctly graded and are usually quite nice for the grade. Stop knocking Littleton.
