Took a gamble on bad pictures… 1808 Classic Head Large cent.

This was our last classic Head (1808) we needed for our book. We took a gamble and it paid off. Some times bad pictures pay off sometimes they don’t. I have been attempting to put together the large cent album for 2 years now with my 7 year old daughter. We started with the mid dates. We planned on moving forward with the braided hairs after mid date spots were filled…..but we took a trip down the rabbit hole an attempted the Classic Heads. We have now filled 1807/1838…We are currently working on 1793/1806 …. some spots are filled but not many. I guess we will get to the braided hairs one day lol.

Top picture is what I received from seller. Bottom is picture of coin in hand. Such beautiful details.

Side note:

I am always looking for large cents to grow our collection. My son is 4 soon and is showing more and more interest in what me and his sister are doing with coins. Little to say I think it might be time to start his book soon.

Please don’t hesitate to offer up large cents to me I’d lobe to see what you have.

RB.

Great luck. I have upon occasion done well with bad pics, not usually though. I am glad for you and your daughter. Best of luck with your collection.

Nice coin... and the gamble paid off.... Good luck with your set, and great that your children seem to have interest - at least until they reach the teen years.... Then maybe return as adults. Cheers, RickO

Please review the previous auction catalogs for this firm:

    http://images.goldbergauctions.com/php/auctions.php

When you click on View Catalog, most will have a link to Large Cents. They provide good photos and detailed descriptions. Many are quite affordable, most are raw. Most importantly, they usually provide an EAC grade. It is quite educational.

would be very interesting and entertaining to hear the views of a kid on large cents, 2c, 3c etc.!

there are some rather large chunks of russian and g. b. copper that are affordable (great kid stuff) if one of them shows a penchant for copper. the impact they made on me the first time i held them will not be soon forgotten!

happy to read you all are enjoy and sharing the king of hobbies together.

if you were ever to take a picture and share it of a little 7 year old hand pressing a large cent into an album (watch those finger prints, small or no lol), i certainly wouldn't try to stop ya!
