PEACE Dollars wholesale prices?

KISHU1KISHU1 Posts: 2,133 ✭✭✭

I’m going to a estate sale on Friday and they will have over 100 peace dollars not graded
They said they range from XF to unc
What is the current wholesale price on these
Also what is the price on cleaned dollars as there are probably some like this in the lot
I looked on EBay but just want other opinions on these
I will post pictures if I get the coins
Thanks

Depends on date and condition. Non details for common date are around $30, details like cleaned common date are $20. 1921, 1928 and 1934s are more, much more depending on condition.

I don't think that the Bay is a good standard for gauging value. I hope you can get enough time to examine the coins to some find something worth bidding on. Cleaned silver is always a disappointment. Good luck. Peace Roy

Wholesale price is a little irrelevant if you don't have a place to sell them.

I've rarely seen silver dollars sell for wholesale at an estate sale.

Problem Peace dollars sell very quickly around $30 on ebay; Unc.s have a lot of competition and are slow sellers if over high $30s or $40 unless they are closer to 64 and properly imaged.

Estate sales... In my experience.... Are overpriced and usually poor or impaired quality. At least that is what I have seen and I have gone to several. Cheers, RickO

The companies that run " estate " sales cherry pick EVERYTHING of value and sell it or wholesale it off. What's left in these sales is what " THEY " don't want or couldn't sell. Then they wait for the public to come and buy up the trash that's left over.
As far as coins they most likely will be damaged, sliders, or cleaned. JMHO

You called this an estate sale, not an auction so my guess is these will all be priced at moon money

Why bother when the wholesale price is $35?

Many wholesale buyers have minimums, like Apmex that has a $2500 minimum for those dealing, and they will be as fussy as they want to be with "scatches" or other issues putting coins into low categories. With ebay you can get a quick no problem sale.

I have not been to an estate sale in ages, mainly because I didn't like the grabbiness of the sales. You would get their early then there would be a big rush to the table with the coins.

There are a number of comments about things being priced for moon money at estate sales. While that does happen on occasion, that has not been my experience; most of the time things were priced to sell. Some operators might price things higher, but if you go to enough sales, you get a feel for the different operators and how they price their coins and silver.

Another thing you saw sometimes is pricing extremes, where some things would be priced at really high ridiculous prices, and other things would be down right bargains. I think the discrepancy was the result of the operators not really knowing a lot about coins. The most likely areas to find a bargain might be a key date coin they missed, or a high grade coin they didn't realize should be going for more than the eBay comps the operator looked up.

OP: Have fun at the sale and report back what you end up getting. Good Luck!

Sounds like fun and beware of counterfeits. Please give us a report and your impressions when you get back. Thanks.

    This.

I go to estate sales every week. Deals are there if you look and have some knowledge. I also hold estate sales and have one starting in a two weeks with a case of coins. I have them priced at close to full market for the first day or two but then they’ll go 75% off and then 50% off. some will sell the first day and someone may actually get some Ikes or SBAs below face. Last year I found over 70 peace dollars in one sale and I bought them at 22.50 each. A little high at the time.

Here’s what have for sale in this estate. Hopefully you can see the prices if you zoom.

Many correct responces in here. lots of the wholesalers are very picky, and will try to discredit for little scratches, rim dings, even minor stuf wipe, etc to knock it back down to lower category. i use an intermeadiate buyer who pools, its a few dollars less, but way more than I can get from the cheap "?" that shop in my area. also, if not too bad, I can slide a few here and there in on the higher tier
