2022-W Proof ASE With Specks

Hello all!

Just yesterday I received my backordered proof ASE, and at first it looked great. The capsule came a little dirty so at first I just assumed all of the dirt was just on the plastic. Unfortunately, once I got all of the junk off of the capsule, I saw that two pieces of material had stayed behind and were definitely on the coin.

Anyways, I was thinking about possibly submitting it to PCGS (hoping of course for a 70), but now I am not too sure if it would come back with the grade I would like because of those annoying specks.

I already reached out to the mint and in their reply I was informed that I should receive an email with a prepaid shipping label to return the product soon.

The issue lies in the fact that I would just be issued a refund and would have to try to purchase another one (if they come back in stock) if I wanted another one (which I do).

So, my question is, should I return it and hope I get a chance to buy another one, or should I just stick with the one I have?

Could be lint or tiny shards of plastic. Or a defect or scratch.

Most likely lint, etc.

But if you wanted a PR70, it would be easier to just buy one already graded.

Save yourself the stress of submission... Send it back or sell it and buy a graded 70. Cheers, RickO

I think the mint only issues refunds, and you have to buy another. That was my experience a couple years back when I got an ASE with what looked like a blob or smudge - like a non-proof speck in the mirrored proof area.

Well me and the boys have been up 🎣 doing catch and release with some products and trying to cart ones we want.
This morning and yesterday and the day before the proof W ase has been available at 7:30 am est.
I don’t think you have to wait for your return to process to grab one in the morning b😉🦫🦫
The boys agree with just buy a 70. There’s lots of these available.
