Fairmont Hendricks Newp

My Hendrix Experience (YNs can go google Jimi).

I don't swim in the deep end of the pool. Here, I walked towards the deep end with my feet on the ground and making sure the water never got above my neck.

I collect eagles of the first SF Mint, 1854-s to 1874-s. Generally graded 45, a couple graded 53, and some fun lower grades and duplicates (e.g., Littlejohn).

The Hendricks set presented 29 eagles of general interest to me, 23 eagles from the first SF Mint, 5 eagles somewhat realistic to pursue, and 2 eagles which i was keen to win.

Results: won 1 (PC53 1858-s), lost 4 (by 2.5, 1.5, 4, 1 increments).

The 1858-s eagle is not a sexy Civil War coin. Very thin market for them. Tough to find nice. I have a computer folder with 300 images of 55 different 1858-s eagles. I would want to buy only 2 or 3 of them. I missed a good opportunity in 2015 to get a nice one.

The prior auctions of Fairmont eagles (8/18, 10/18, 2/19) included no 1858-s eagles.

CAC pops show 6 total: grades 10 (2), 40, 45, 50, 53 (this one).

Paid "1 grade up" - but comps are irrelevant when those other eagles don't really compare.

Hey! I'm getting older. Can't wait much longer! Thrilled to snag this one!
