Regrade or Reconsideration Decision

I am under the impression that reconsideration is best if your aim is to achieve a plus upgrade, but not necessarily a full point upgrade. That regrade is better if you want to achieve at least a full point upgrade and are not concerned if you miss the plus designation.
Seems most plus grades come from reconsideration are not from first time grading as the graders don’t necessarily consider plus grade that much consciously. Also some plus candidates skip to the next grade as a C coin.
Is my thinking correct? Please voice your thoughts.

I don’t believe there is any rhyme or reason to it (which type submission). I don’t think one can mind read the minds of graders lol. YMMV.

The reconsiderations are graded in the existing holder and the regrades are cracked out and graded raw. Beyond this I don't think there is any global data to point in any specific direction. I am sure there are many individual and varied experiences.

It depends - I have a lot of Walking Halves in 65 holders (mostly 1943s) that could upgrade to 66 -- but the time and expense is not worth it . Other times, the finacial bump for a "+" makes it worth a shot. Plus you need the grading skill to identify an upgrade candidate.

    It's pretty simple:

If the holder is unimportant and you are just hoping for an upgrade (with no risk to its current grade) choose regrade.

If the holder is important to keep unless the coin upgrades choose reconsideration.

Special cases: If the desire is a plus-only upgrade, or a "suffix" like FBL, choose reconsideration.

And make sure to choose the appropriate Upgrade type on the form, as there is a default if none are chosen.
