1944 d penny with S’s over the 4’s. 1 strong S on the first 4 and faint S on the 2nd

    That is PMD, it took a hit pushed the lower part of the 4 over.

    I would also be willing to bet the person that sent it in also thought it was an S and found out it was PMD. :D
    Why else would you send a circulated wheat that is worth about 3 to 5 cents in for grading?

    Damaged coin. Period. Easy call.

    Why did it straight grade with that damage? :/

    Yep...PMD... Leg of 4 pushed over.... a little more damage on second 4... No numismatic premium and the TPG did not miss an error. Cheers, RickO
