ED - POSTED TO WRONG FORUM, PLEASE MOVE TO WORLD FORUM IF POSSIBLE

I was recently able to secure a couple of the GB 1981 10P in uncirculated condition. Now this is a coin that many would not pause at and keep on moving. Even the catalog value, although slightly higher than other 10p in like condition, is not impressive at all.
And there were some 3.5 million pieces struck.

How would the coin be even remotely special?

  • Well modern specimen uncirculated sets did not begin until 1982, so none available in sets
  • The mintage was 1-2 % if other 10p coins
  • Seemingly the entire mintage was paid out into circulation, and VERY FEW saved out.
  • Unlike Kennedy 50c pieces this denomination served severe duty and was used regularly in making change and had reasonable value being the equivalent of the old florin - 1/10 of a pound.
  • all older large size 10p pulled from circulation in 1993

I am not sure if this coin is appreciated for its apparent scarcity (rarity?) but here is a picture of this "Clark Kent" coin:

Well, just Love coins, period.
