Possible 1994 dimes error coin

I don't know much about dimes found this one and I'm pretty sure it's a an error coin just wondering if it's a known error for this this particular year. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated link below is for pictures

    Sorry, that is post mint damage. (PMD) :/

  • Oh thought itt might of been a error because On the reverse side of the coin part of the flame is up in the second t of states

    Nope, that is a very heavily damaged dime. The flame ends where is it supposed to. The mark you are looking at is a deep gouge that happened after it left the mint. Therefore not an error.

    PMD - looks like it had a bad encounter in a parking lot.

    @AprilP .... Welcome aboard. As stated above, that is severe PMD (Post Mint Damage), though it does retain value of ten cents. Cheers, RickO

    Welcome to the forum. Please go to USMint.gov and read the reference article re:Minting Process for US Coins. It will tell you the step by step process they use to make our coins. This coin you ask about is terribly deformed due to PMD.
