The majority of trucking is done through contracts. Fuel is the largest quantifier of price. I wish I could remember my percentages. The fairest thing to do to everyone involved is/was to incorporate a fuel surcharge when the price of fuel spiked. If this wasn't done you would either have a bunch of bankrupt truckers or the public paying outrageous prices when the price of fuel relaxed. Trucking used to be a lucrative business before Regan deregulated trucking. If you could get the contracts way back then you could net $100K per rig after all expenses including paying a driver!

I don't think you realize how high a percentage the cost of fuel is in operating a big rig. You can't imagine how much taxes people are paying due to the amount of taxes on the trucking industry that are passed along to the consumer!

I'm working under the assumption that I understand fuel costs just fine. You are working under the assumption that trucking companies can't figure out any other way to raise their prices to account for rising business expenses. Perhaps we're both right.

Honestly, what difference did it make what you call it? Add a 10% surcharge or raise the price 10%, you still end up paying/charging the same

The shipping increases through ebay have gone up a lot in 10 years, you could ship express through ebay for $12 or so, that has more than doubled, ditto first class shipping, you could ship first class with tracking for around a buck fifty, now more than double that. It is up to the sellers to figure at what price to sell items with free shipping. For many break even or slight losses are not uncommon.

years ago Canada had a PM . His name was Pierre Elliott Trudeau.
he became well known for numerous interesting but true facts he sort of let slip in to his speeches.
One of them was this: there is no such a thing like a free lunch!!!
you pay for it, one way or another! Since that speech was "digested" by Canadians, politicians do not invite you for a free lunch any longer. They charge you now to meet them at a luncheon or breakfast.. call it a fund raiser.
so guys, do you really think that there is ****free**** shipping?
If you think US sellers are gauging you..... try ordering coins from Europe.....seriously, try it out.....
shipping is a huge money-maker for them..

To actually address the OP'S question:
the answer is NO: Feebay will simply send new policies around saying that they will, starting whenever, increase their "administration or whatever other fees to X % of the FVF.... But they will not say "increase fees". The say our fees will be from ....date on!!!!!
    take it or leave Feebay.
