What are your thoughts as to grade and overall appearance on this piece. Just came in the mail yesterday.

Pics aren't easy to grade from, so I'll just wager CH AU.

A very nice gold coin.... I really find it difficult to grade gold from pictures with so much glare. Appears to be a high AU.... Cheers, RickO

Its AU but the scratches near star 5 are an issue.

AU58 or MS62. Difficult coin to grade due to the incused design. If it is a Mint State coin, I would think the marks in the left obverse field would limit it to a MS62 grade.

AU58 minimum going on the pictures.

Nasty scratch on the star of the left obverse by the nose. Seems original but may be too scratched for straight AU.

Looks 63 to me. I don’t see anything that looks like rub but like others have already said it’s very difficult to grade from pics. It’s look very nice to me and I would submit this piece to our host for grading. I wish you all the luck with this beautiful gold Indian..

I’ll guess AU. If not for the scratch, MS. Send it in and you will know for sure in about 6 months.

Here is a closeup of the star in question. the mark looks raised and you can see other what appear to be clash marks near the Indian's profile.

As others have already said, tough to grade from those pics... I could see this going anywhere from AU to low MS. Are you going to submit to our hosts??

No matter what the grade is, it's an attractive coin with great color. I like it. <3

This coin sold at the FUN auction in 1984. It was graded in 1981 by ANACS as EF45/45.

I like the coin but why didn't the PO submit it for grading?
