Neither does this pattern graded AU 50.
I agree, but those rays and die polishing marks on the obverse tell a different story.
I think the coin is likely a counterfeit. For one thing, the "O" in ONE has the typical distortion seen on other modern counterfeits. Also, the obverse does not appear to be the High-Relief hub.
The obverse shouldn’t be the high relief hub. It is the low relief obverse high relief reverse.

Compare the "O" of ONE on your coin to the PCGS photo. They do not match.
And look at this listing for several "Peace Dollars" of different dates that are not US Mint products.
Every one has the same deformed "O" in ONE like your coin:

The ray through the 'N' is not even close.
Looks like a counterfeit to me..... Send it for authentication if you still believe it is real. Cheers, RickO
Didn't see the "O" deformed at first.
You convinced me, Dan. Not good.

The coin looks counterfeit to me too.

amazing find with fat ONE and rays underneath it - could be unique
Not unique. All of these have a fat "ONE" and fat rays below:

Counterfeit.
"It's like God, Family, Country, except Sticker, Plastic, Coin."
Not even a terribly good counterfeit.
Yep. What they said.
not that we need yet another reason to confirm this as counterfeit but that is one weird gouge going through the U(V) on the obv.
the date alone makes this impossible for a high relief. that just leaves the low relief and date/rays/ON on rev etc just isn't even close to that.
i wonder how many of the new accounts just post stuff to seek attention and/or absorb our valuable time? can we get a noobie section for people to cut their teeth in? it doesn't really bother me per se but watching these threads get so much attention, i kinda feel bad for others.
is coinfacts still free to everyone? whenever i type a coin search into an engine, it is LITERALLY the first link 85-90% of the time. did using heritage's amazing archives fall out of vogue?
Yeah. Waaay off.
