Nope, definitely a vice job. Reversed letters and all.
Coin Photographer.
The only thing missing is the vise itself.
the winning bid was high enough they could have bought a nice one
Too bad, someone just got scammed.... Certainly a vise job. Cheers, RickO
Another example of why learning about fake errors is so important. Thanks. Peace Roy

$305!!!
Do I laugh, do I cry, do I pull out the vice and "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em"?
Nothing about that coin looked like a genuine error. The bidders clearly didn't know anything about errors or the minting process.
P. T. Barnum was right.
It is sad how unknowledgeable people willingly throw away their hard-earned money.
…….. Or how willing they are to spend such effort to convince us that is what they think it is
REsponse from the seller:
"Hmm interesting , I bought it not that long ago from a respected dealer, how sure are you about that? You've seen this before ik assuming , obviously I never want to sell anything counterfiet or modified , but also don't know you from Mike, appreciate you letting me know though
Tom"
Unfortunetly I was the buyer and then seller of this coin, was not intentionally sold to mislead or scam anyone , the buyer of this coin has been immediately refunded and contacted as soon as I was made aware of what's happening, I'm more of a morgan guy than I am a mint error person, and would never intentionally sell something not authentic, so just wanted to let everyone know this has been resolved and appreciate the education very much!
An interesting development as i usually try to stay away from interfering with active auctions. This one I put in my watch list because of many bids and high price from some high feedback eBayers. I just posted it here to see if my squeeze theory was wrong.
Truly honorable behavior. Much respect.
Glad to hear we can call off the Vice Squad. Seriously, very honorable handling.

i came back to this thread to make a somewhat similar post after looking over your feedback, items listed and sold and is one of the rare occasions i was giving the benefit of the doubt because this item was quite out of sorts for the history of this account.
that said, when you venture outside your comfort zone, these days, be forewarned, scammers ABOUND. so many claim to know what they are doing but in numismatics, if a lot of people were sat down in front of a panel of experts, would fail many tests. i've seen it first hand on MANY occasions. it is ok to not be an expert at things, just don't proclaim it when it is clearly NOT true.
virtually anything that can be counterfeited and/or knocked-off, is being done. auto parts, electronics, coins, comic books, food products (yes i know), etc etc - AND the cherry on top, it is/has been reported/proven that the places trusted to make authentic versions of items are simultaneously making unauthorized and slightly modified versions for sale out the back door.
