Who says you can't have fun at a coin show for cheap

FlatwoodsFlatwoods Posts: 4,203 ✭✭✭✭✭

I went to a show yesterday. Not much there that suited my tastes but I needed a couple widgets for my type set.
I am as tickled with these two coins as i would be with a $1000 purchase.
It's all what you make of it.

'09 VDB that I needed. May get replaced with an S VDB but I think it is a fine coin for the spot.

War nickel. I didn't have a suitable one but this hits the spot for now.

This was a pretty big show. Not much there. It's getting tough to find good stuff.
That didn't stop me from having a good time though.

May I suggest collecting the complete sets of W quarters?😎

The floor was crowded. Most of the deals I witnessed were for bullion.
Lots of it there and it seemed to be selling well.
Not much there for me in terms of nice stuff.
    Toned coins were practically non-existent.
    Nice type stuff was scarce.
Most dealers told me they were having a hard time getting nice inventory but all said they were having a good show.
I guess people are hungry for coins right now.
Forum member @amworldcoin was there with lots of nice Barber material. Just not my thing.
Many dealers were having the lunch special of meat loaf, which looked good but I didnt partake.

These (W quarters) can still be found in circulation. I found 3 of them, all different, in two $500 boxes of quarters. They are worth at least $5 apiece which is more than current value of a silver quarter.3 W's and 1 silver quarter out of $1000 in quarters from the bank. Even if you don't want to collect the "W" quarter, they can be easily traded for coins you do collect. I like that V.D.B. you bought at the show. :)

It was nice putting a face to a name! The food at this show if you get the lunch special is the best I've ever had at a show!
