PCGS refused to recognize Morgan Dollar 1880 S VAM 9. Any idea why?

I ordered the service with Attributes Detection. Received without that.
Contact center person said that: "No variety was
found on your 1880-S $1, PL, MS".
What do you think?

your truview isn't available yet so i can't say 100% but i do see what appears to be the 8/7 and i am pretty sure i see the s/s, so, most likely you do have the correct coin/vam and i have no idea what "no variety found" could even possibly mean.
it is a very easy and straight-forward variety to attribute.
vam page for convenience - CF page
Thank you! PCGS even didn't add the photo.
Need to do something with these cases.
Did they "refuse" or simply " fail" to recognize the VAM?
.
the truviews take a couple/few weeks to get images up.
at least they gave a reason, even if it doesn't make any sense. (i certainly DO NOT want to discourage them from adding little notes like that, ESPECIALLY when it comes to varieties)
It's failed but I contacted PCGS. They confirmed that no VAM found.
But there is a VAM. Even I can see it.
The only reason here in incompetence of the grader and PCGS customer service system
Here it comes.
Be careful. You're walking a thin line. I'll delete your comments from my quote in case you decide to clean up your post.
For the 1880-S, VAM 9 is not a recognized variety by PCGS. Only 10 and 12.

it is in the pops and it is a vam list coin, top 100 no less.
coin # 133887
always use the pops/price guide as a starting place varieties/marriages.
if you find something NOT in the pops but it has a FS number, you may be able to get a first one graded. i managed to snag 2 amazingly enough to me but coulda probably gotten a few more if i had studied up more. hope it helps.
Looks like they recognize it.
Did you put this number on your submission form? 133887

VamWorld main page for this coin does not tag the VAM 9 as PCGS recognized. However, if you go thru the Large S reverses and find VAM 9 the PCGS tag is there. I give up....

i wouldn't give up. just go to the source. if you want to know if ngc attributes something, go to their pops/price guide, if pcgs, go to theirs, if anacs etc etc
it is highly unlikely that any site outside the tpgs sites will have 100% up-to-date info. usually we have to find out the hard way when things are added/removed. if there are press releases or other methods to update the numismatic community, i am unaware of it after over a decade in numismatics.
this page has been kinda useful over the years. https://www.pcgs.com/varietyfaq
Do your research, assemble and document the facts in a package and submit for reconsideration. Cheers, RickO
Not sure if you have been able to locate this at the PCGS website yet. In case you have not, read on ...
Go to your link, the PCGS list of currently recognized VAM varieties (i.e., https://www.pcgs.com/vamvarieties ).
Search for 133887.
Note - the "date" field is "1880/79-S", and it is about half way down the page.
thank you
I see it now. Lesson learned. Thanks mate.
