Need help identifying 1928-S Peace Double Mint Error
I was directed here and told this is where all the smart coin guys hang out that may be able to help me out, since obviously they were not, lol.
I have a 1928-S Peace Dollar I purchased knowing it was a mint error. I recognized the strike through obverse which is quite literally, a strike through of the numeral 1 in the date. What I didn't notice was the excessive amount of doubling on the obverse. At first I only noticed it in the motto in the D, W, and E. After a closer look, it's also doubled on the T, R, every letter in LIBERTY, the Tiara, top of Liberty's head, and the back of her neck. There could be more, I don't know. I sent it off to PCGS and it came back an MS-63 Mint Error Strike Through Obverse. I also wanted it labeled as a VAM or doubled, but I have no idea what I have here. To me it seems a 1928-S Double Mint Error.

So my 2 questions to all the wise folks I was told reside here are:
1) What in the world is this thing, as in how would it be labeled?
2) Anyone interested in trying to put a value on it? Is it double beneficial to the value, or a double whammy?
Any help or further knowledge would be greatly appreciated!

"1) What in the world is this thing, as in how would it be labeled?"
It looks like you may have a doubled die from looking at the designer's initials in one of your photos.
It also looks like you have some machine doubling also
It may be labeled correctly for a PCGS slab, they don't do all Vam's.
ANACS will note the Vam on the holder.
2) Anyone interested in trying to put a value on it? Is it double beneficial to the value, or a double whammy?
My guess would be $125 to $150 Correction $600 to $700
Sorry it's not double beneficial to the value
You can check here to see if you can match up your coin to the Vam.

Thanks ifthevamzarockin, I appreciate any knowledge I can get, be it what I want to hear ot not!
So in your opinion ifthevamzarockin, the errors on this coin decrease it's value?
Should your coin be a VAM-3 it would increase the value over and above the base coin with a strike-thru error. Some VAM specialists should pipe in later today. Good luck.

While I don't know the value of the coin with that error, the previous estimate sounds too low. Don't let it scare you.

@rlars007 .... Welcome aboard. Your 'doubling' is machine doubling. I have no idea of what VAM may be assigned. Cheers, RickO

Sorry it was late last night when I responded.
I was looking at strike thru's and my mind diverted to a common date rather than the 28s
I would guess the value is around $600
Well I've spent the better part of the morning taking everyone's advice and spent some time on Vamworld doing some comparisons and other sites learning the difference between mechanical doubling, and double dies.
Here's my thoughts based on my fresh knowledge. It appears to be a 1928-S with Strike Through Mint Error, VAM-13? (kind of), with mechanical doubling in LIBERTY, and a die clash with the letters CE in Liberty's hair near her hair bun.
So far I've learned the difference between mechanical doubling, and double dies. I've learned I will never be an expert on VAMS, hair can have buns, and MS-63 sure gets ugly under magnification!
I've also added more photos in the album in the link. I'll add link again here:

Thank you to all for the tips and advice, much abliged !
