I don't really do toned coins but:

I cleaned out on of my coin closets and found these in a box of 2011 Silver Eagle 25th Anniversary Sets. The coins seem darker in hand than the images.

What do you think?

    They look pretty good toned.
I’d say you got pretty lucky they didn’t tone blotchy dark brown, or develop milk spots.
I have an MS-70 set which I’ve carefully stored all these years and luckily it’s still blast white.
Been thinking about selling it too, just because it worries me.

I've seen some 25th anniversary sets with this type of toning and with the same colors at coin shows. Must be something with the packaging. Most are very attractive too.

I had 3 sets, if anyone remembers these, 3 capsules were opened and two coins were loose in the box. That set had a very deep blue velvety liner in the OGP. Even in the same set, some coins toned and some remained blast white. I even got 2 PR70s and several 69s, most toned were 67s. I opened maybe 10-12 silver mint boxes most 8 to 10 years old, and no milk spots on any coin. Does that reduce the risk/possibilty of future milk spots? Is there a period of time when the improper rinse or whatever the cause, is less likely to occure?

Not sure on the milk spots, but the ones I've seen didn't have any. The blue velvet liner is most likely the cause of the toning and it is very interesting that some coins didn't tone. I have a 1996 silver eagle in on of those Littleton cardboard holders and it's still blast white after all these years; I've heard those holders will tone the coins pretty well.

I would be very disappointed if I opened my ASE's and found they had tarnished. Cheers, RickO

I have a ASE money clip from the mint that came in the blue velvet box and I didn't open it for years, tones them for sure.
