I like the autograph because I know how hard it it’s to write anything when you have it.
Can't believe I did this. The finest Ruth ball in our hobby. PSA 10/10. Took parting with two big pieces, but the thought of displaying this beside my #144 took root in my head and would not go away, LOL.
The provenance on this ball is what put it over the top, for me, beyond the grade. It is dated July 10, 1947, and the location is also specified as the stadium in Houston that held the Texas League game between Houston and Fort Worth. News articles and other evidence from that time show that Babe Ruth was there on that day, attended that game, as part of his work supporting and promoting boys' baseball for American Legion. Houston declared that day "Babe Ruth Day," and the Ford Motor dealers who sponsored the event also held a luncheon for Ruth that same day in Houston. I was able to track down images of that very luncheon program, further bolstering the provenance.
So to have such a pristine example of Babe's beautiful signature with both PSA 10 assessment and the additional provenance, it was too special a collecting opportunity to pass up! I have always been enamored with Babe's signature, and this specimen just took my breath away at first sight.

MattyC,
I don't even have words to explain how great an item that is. I guess I'll just say congratulations! You must be absolutely ecstatic about this pickup. The signature, the ball itself, and the provenance are top notch.

First- strength and faith. Both carried me through a friends death from it
If just baseball= add in Jim Poole ( reliever) and Pete Frates ( Mr "Ice Bucket challenge") and with a little more research theres others with symptoms that were similar that never made headlines.
Expand to football and Dwight Clark is a famous sufferer. As is Steve Gleason of the Saints which my buddy Greg collects
Tab the Clark name and you'll have 12 more NFL players on your list.
Other sports have also had sufferers. Including caddie Bruce Edwards- caddied for Tom Watson for 30 years -and who died on Masters Thursday in 2004
Sadly the list is longer than we'd like it to be

I’m so sorry to hear about your Mom.
Tim Green, who played at Syracuse and then in the NFL with the Falcons is currently battling ALS. Also, former Bear as well as pro wrestler Steve Mongo McMichael. On the baseball side, Jim Poole I believe.

Just won this one last night to add to my Aaron run. Price was right and looks under graded IMO.
That's a Pretty One...
Thank you. Just doubled up my 50’s Aaron purchases this evening, and could not pass this one up.
Man, KC, you are killing it with your eye this month. The two Aarons you chose both look many grades better than the sticker, and are therefore much savvier pickups than had you bought the exact same eye appeal in the higher sticker. Really impressive eye there, sir.
When I was wheeling and dealing to try and get into that Ruth ball, I managed to get back this card below, my favorite card to represent Cobb, and my first ever Pre War card that I bought. I love the mischief in his eyes in this image. It is a card that does not come up for sale very often, and also gets super pricey in even 2/3 grade, hence this 1 was always the one for me.
Been Chasing this card in this grade for 20 years... !!! i lost a bid on one that went for $2,000.00 well the pop has decreased to POP 5 and finally more affordable.... Ivan Murrel now the 19th Panamanian to play in the Major Leagues

You win..........again.
Seriously, I look forward to your additions each month. They are breathtaking and all of us aspire to make our own meaningful acquisitions.
Plus, the joy you get from these items comes through in your posts.
