Grading Specials April 1, 2022

Preparing a submission and cannot seem to find specials on the website just in case they might fit with these coins. Also, anyone know the true turnaround times for service levels on recent submissions.

@HeatherBoyd PCGS needs to fix this Quarterly Special so that it makes sense. What bullion gold coin has a $20 denomination? Do they mean gold coins and bullion or is it just for vintage gold coins.

$20 Libs, $20 Saints, and the 2009 UHR $20 are the only ones I can think of

The $20 Libs and $20 Saints are not considered to be bullion, they are vintage gold coins. The 2009 UHR $20 is not a bullion coin either, it is a Modern Commemorative Coin.

PCGS is still has too many coins waiting to grade in the grading room, that’s why they don’t give good specials. Grading time is still posted as 50-60 days but it might be a lot more slower than that in reality.

If I were PCGS, my April 1, 2022 quarterly special would be submit one coin and pay for two. I doubt collectors would share my sense of humor. :D

As I understand it, the 2009 UHR DE Gold Coin is not a commemorative. The commemorative coins issued in 2009 were for Lincoln and Braille.

FWIW, the 2009 UHR DE is in the "Bullion Coins" group.

    Edited to add:
I agree with your original point. The grading special on $10 and $20 "bullion" could be 'tweaked' to better communicate which coins are eligible.

So much for specials for the little guy. Not sure how many people have $10 and $20 raw Liberty gold laying around to submit for grading. 😫. Would have been better if it was for any US gold coins, including the commemoratives. There’s always hope for a better special in Q3.

I agree, I am definitely out on this one. As written I expect most people won't be able to play. A good way to help reduce the influx of coins pouring in for grading while they are still swamped.

    Little guy here, too.
I've never been able to take advantage of the quarterly specials.
    Oh, well. someday....

    Joe

    Everything is all right!
