$29.50 in 1987 dollars is worth around $75 in 2022 dollars

With prices like that I suspect it may be another item that exists in quantity in some storage locker.

The mintage is pretty low, so they are scarce to begin with. And since they seem fairly ugly (not the subject, but the execution), if a dealer got one it probably got melted.

I've not seen one in my years collecting.

Now I'm left wondering exactly how you make "silver-like bronze", since bronze, by definition, is kind of non-silver-coloured. Did they mean "cupronickel"? :/

And I'm pretty sure "gold-like bronze" is better known as "brass".

And yes, with no actual explanation on the medal as to its origin or commemorative purpose (it doesn't even mention the Philippines anywhere on the medal, or explain which "victory" happened in 1987), I'd suspect any of the silver ones that found their way onto the secondary market would end up on the "generic scrap silver round" pile, and the base-metal ones under just plain "generic scrap".

Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.

Apparently I have been awarded one DPOTD. B)
