    A rather bizarre post.
What value do you get out of any possible responses? 50 years of black pitchers? Really? Its baseball, not a race comparison.
Will you go for the Japanese, pitchers next?

I whole heatedly agree. Politically incorrect, extremely bad taste ...

Goldy , why did you choose 1970 for your cut off?

I can think of many pre 70.
Gibson, Tiant, Pascuel, Newcombe, Marichal(Dominican), Vida Blue,

I'm drawing a blank post 70. Maybe the guy who pitched for the Astros and who had a stroke. I'm drawing a complete blank on Giants, A's, Seattle and Dodgers, Rockies. Only Ferguson Jenkins.

    Have a nice day

    Try to stay positive sir.

Did they celebrate Obama for becoming the first black president ?

Will they celebrate the first black woman Supreme Court justice ?

Did all of mlb wear #42 to celebrate Jackie Robinson becoming the first black in mlb ?

    People celebrate lots of things.

White, black, Ivy League, Canadien, American.

If I had a post of asking for the greatest American hockey players in the NHL, would it bother you because I didn’t include Canadiens ?

People celebrate different cultures and different kinds.

It’s ok if you want to celebrate also.

It’s not ok for you to bring your negativity into a forum where it never existed in the first place.

    That’s bordering on slander.

Wanted to say last 50 years but didn’t want to exclude Gibson. Not sure when he retired, but remember his 72 Topps card.

How about Dave Stewart, Sabathia, and JR Richards ?

And MCMLVTopps I have a question for you.

I have posted many topics like this.

Our moderator even joined in the thread about the best white fullback ever in the NFL.

The moderator has never been bothered by these topics and I don’t believe the moderator has given you permission to administrate .

You said, “it’s baseball, not a race comparison.” Did I ever ask to compare races to see who is better or worse ?

You know what you just did ? You slandered someone.

I’m ok. Trust me. I don’t want you to get another time out for your actions. I just want you to understand that I have never compared races, but rather have celebrated all races and nationalities with my posts.

Same to those who liked and agreed your post. They must feel slander is ok too. No big deal. I’m a big boy.

I don't see this question as being a problem the way it was worded. There is no mention of any race being better or worse than another. I know I have read articles about the best Japanese ball players, the best Latin ball players, etc. I think the question is fine as long as answers are not presented in a way that causes problems.

Todd Tobias - Grateful Collector - I focus on autographed American Football League sets, Fleer & Topps, 1960-1969, and lacrosse cards.

I can’t remember if I “Liked” or “Agreed” with my friend Al ( 1955 Topps ) but I stand by it and it say it was fair to think it was a bizarre post because of the climate we are in. Sadly most of us don’t want to mix sports with race under any circumstances but to each his own.

Personally I don’t think you were wrong nor do I think Al was wrong either. But I’m not getting called out without responding, so this is the reason for my post here, I can see both sides of this.

I like your threads and don’t think you had any bad intentions at all but I can see how some could go either way with it.

Moving on I will answer your OP

    1-Gibson

I can’t really think of the next 3, I want to put Spanish guys in there for Minority pitchers like Rivera and Pedro!

My rule is that if you can replace the word "black" with the word "white" in your question/statement/sentence and the result is no more or less offensive than the original, then you're on solid ground. Personally, I think "Your 1970 to present MLB all star white pitching rotation" would have raised a lot of eyebrows. No thank you, I'll pass.

This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

I have stayed quiet throughout this nonsense. However, you as the moderator have missed the point here. My post was an opinion, no more, no less, and I stand on what I wrote. Injecting race is like the 3rd rail in our world. I think the OP could easily have written his post in a more general fashion and left race out of it...however

    What Goldeneye wrote:

Then he so kindly writes his deep concern for my well being I don’t want you to get another time out for your actions.
Another?? Never had the first since 2004. It is YOU who should be banished and disappeared!

Perhaps you, AFlfan and Goldeneye should research what the legal meaning of slander is.
I have been accused of slander by Goldeneye I do not take lightly to this accusation, and am prefering to take the high road. However, the board moderator should be questioning whether Goldeneye is worthy of being allowed to spew his nonsense and accuse people of slander, when in fact not a scintilla of such exists. Slander is the ORAL communication, but LIBEL is written communication, of which CLEARLY, Goldeneye has done to me and tarnished my reputation

Goldeneye's comments above are in fact not slanderous, but he has indeed libeled me.

    Libel meaning in law
Libel is a legal term that refers to the making of false and malicious statements about a person in some type of print or writing. This can include false and malicious statements made in writing, printed on signs, or published on a public forum. Publishing defamatory statements or pictures through the media is also considered libel. To explore this concept, consider the following libel definition.

    Definition of Libel
Noun. The defamation of a person’s character by written or printed words or pictures.
Noun. The act of publishing defamatory statements or pictures, or in any form other than spoken words or gestures.
Verb. To make untrue, damaging statements as fact or truth, rather than opinion.

So, apparently it is the position of the moderator (AFlfan) and PSA that you condone allowing a poster to libel other posters, with no consequences whatsover. Perhaps you might want to run this one past the PSA attorneys.

    To Topps-

Your post stated this thread is a race comparison. It’s a false statement that could ruin my reputation. That is slander.

    To others-

We scrutinize the Washington football club for caving in to the pressure of removing its team logo because it refers to the color of someone’s skin, but we use the same scrutiny against someone here.

    To AFLfan-

Thank you for your decision. Let’s move on and enjoy the forum. I’m fine and hope others are as well.

Finally to Topps- Sorry you are so upset over this. I will remove myself from sports talk so you can enjoy yourself here. The coin and card forum is good enough for me. This is my decision. No one else had influence on this. You said I should be banished and disappear, so I’m giving you exactly want you want.

I mentioned a time out for you, but you want me gone forever. So I give you exactly what you desire.

In my last post on Sports Forum I leave you with BET’s (Black Entertainment Television) five greatest black Olympians of all time.
It’s a celebration of great accomplishment by black athletes sponsored by a black network that does things like this all the time.
