1880-s Morgan dollar before/after conservation

I foolishly sent this coin to be graded at ICG without doing a proper assessment:

I saw that the coin had minimal marks and was from an old collection that I doubted had ever been dipped. EZ est dip with results. You have to be very careful with silver coins that have previously been dipped as you can just make them worse.

The dipped coin looks a lot better. It took that milky haze off. Looks like it may have been puttied.

I like the dipped coin.... You did not overdip and destroy the luster. Good job. Cheers, RickO

I usually don't care for dipping coins, but this is an instance where it turned out well.

Looks good. Much cleaner than a 62 from those photos.

I like it more now. However, being one of the most common years and now uncertified, I don’t think you helped the coin’s value. Since it’s not really worth regrading, it now belongs in a proper raw Unc type set.

Did the dip neutralize the hint of cameo? It looks very nice after the dip. For me personally I liked the look in the ICG slab more than after the dip. It looked to me like an old coin should, then again I collect Jefferson Nickels mostly. Nice coin regardless!

It shipped out from ICG today, I believe it was the coin that graded MS63 "SPL", though I had another 80-s that graded pl. I have not seen that grade before.

I like the old, original look in ICG holder especially if I could have it for the ms62 price

I listed the coin before I cracked it; same thing with another ICG certified Bust coin where no one was interested when it was listed at $400 or so, but when it came back in a higher NGC slab for $1000 more it sold right away.
