Eye Appeal And Error Coins

Eye appeal on error coins is very important to error coin collectors even more so than the grade of the coin. I discuss this more in-depth in my newest 28 page article that I wrote for Mint Error News Magazine. This is the current issue MEN with the cover story about the unique buffalo nickel struck on a gold planchet which is a very eye appealing major mint error.

I was inspired to order this years ago after viewing the 1969D Kennedy 50c struck thru a flip over 1969D struck dime.

Wow, that is really cool.
I always thought it would be fun to have access to a private mint to make all sorts of cool exonumia.
Mike, you are welcome, it is my pleasure.
Glad you asked me to write for your fantastic publication
Working on the next article now
Perfect Chris!
The next issue will be the Special Edition 20th year anniversay of the Mint Error News Magazine and website.
The issue is expected to be over 500 pages, instead of the usual 250-300.
Congratulations Zions on joining the team
Your standout research obviously caught Mikes' attention and thus the ask for an article.
Your research is outstanding, I learn so much from it, thanks again.
This one is pretty appealing to me, nice RB tone on a 1965 quarter off metal error.

Very nice off metal error.
Why your coin stands out is because of the colors, very nice eye appeal.
Let me know if you ever want to sell that coin
This is Epic! It is like Jefferson is mocking the Mercury dime. If I owned this nickel I would name it Thomas Nike, Winged Victory of Samonthrace.
Super cool coin!

Great article Chris! It's always great to see eye appealing error coins! I love your North Daokta quarter clipped planchet and San Diego Expo full brockage!
Since you mentioned the unique 1913 gold buffalo nickel, it's worth having a photo of this eye appealing coin as well! Mike @Byers put together a super informative article on this! Not only is this coin unique, gold wrong planchets of any kind are extremely rare and very valuable as listed in the article, posted here:

Thanks Mike and Chris!
It was some work and a lot of fun putting together my first article for Mint Error News. There are important coins in the article and it was fun tracing them.
I'm looking forward to many more articles from the three of us and others in the future!
What is the error designation on the Jeff. Has a lamination. Also looks to have doubling at the forehead.
Wow.... Interesting errors. I am becoming increasingly interested in these amazing error coins. At the same time, trying not to become hooked on the sector.
Thanks for the links... Cheers, RickO
Chris, all nice errors, but I especially love this nickel. Here's one I have that's not as nice as yours, but somewhat similar.
Wow. Amazing errors. Love them!

Chris- speaking of eye appeal, here is one my favorites that was featured in Mint Error News and was placed with a customer:
Prices are going up so if you have any interest, you should get in sooner than later
Mike, wow that is a really interesting and eye appealing piece. I do not have many foreign error coins nor do I follow them, but this one certainly is extremely cool.
I think I did make the connection in the back of my brain.
But thank you for reminding me and I think I will edit my description and name this coin "Mercury Nickel"
Many untarnished examples on his site.
