While away for a work trip I stopped by a few coin shops near my hotel when I had some free time. I didn't find much, but I thought these two silver rounds were fun, with some nice color and designs inspired by some of the greats in American coinage.

Fellow came into a local shop in late 2019 who had gotten the demo job on an old beat up trailer out in the sticks in exchange for the metal and scrap salvage. His story was that as he pulled the blade of his backhoe down through the roof, a shower of coins came pouring out.

I wouldn't have believed the story, except the dealer hadn't gotten a chance to clean the mud off of the rounds when I walked in. Some even had deep cut marks. I had to snap a picture. Must have been 75 to 100, total. All mid-1980s vintage, I believe.

I'm not a huge fan of generic rounds. But how can you pass up tone like this, with a story, for a few bucks. Took the one with the most impressive toning:

We are like children who look at print and see a serpent in the last letter but one, and a sword in the last.

Sometimes silver rounds have attractive designs or a design that reflects a particular interest of someone. I pick them up occasionally, more often for gifts to others. Those in the OP are nice designs. Cheers, RickO
