1972S Penny Crack?

I apologize for the poor quality of the photos & the lighting. I noticed this crack on the obverse only and am curious as to how common this is?
Thank you

Just based on the pictures above,d it appears to be a scratch.... A magnified picture of the 'scratch' would help further diagnosis. Cheers, RickO

A die crack would be raised.

  • I will attempt to take a better picture in better lighting.

Note how the color of the scratch is brighter than the rest of the coin. If it were a die crack it would be exactly the same color as the rest of the coin. Also, it would be raised, not incuse on the surface of the coin among other things.

Better lighting will not change a scratch into a die crack sorry.

  • Thank you everyone. I shall leave it as a scratch. :(
