The fixation on buyers premiums in purchasing a coin at this point is just willful ignorance.

Please explain in more detail what you are trying to say. : )

    Explaining things to
People who don’t want to understand is a waste of energy.

PS…if you are paying a 40% spread anywhere you are seriously doing something wrong.

If you value a coin at $100 and there’s a 100% buyers fee your maximum bid will be $50. If there’s no buyers fee on the same coin your maximum bid will be $100. You pay the same amount regardless of what the buyers fee is.

You buy a coin at auction and pay a 20% buyers commission. When you sell the coin at auction, you pay a 20% seller's commission. Isn't that a 40% spread? I understand that sometimes commissions can be negotiated; but....

No disagreement. I've been participating in auctions for over 40 years.

When will Great Collections auction the ANA. And will they break it up or do it as one lot? I think they’d make more if they broke it up.

The seller pays the buyers commission. If you have a decent consignment I’d imagine you can get 105-108% of hammer as a seller. 10-15% spread.

Huh? I've been doing business with Heritage for years and years and NEVER paid a seller's commission (and I've got the receipts to prove it).

I'm aware that sellers commissions can be negotiated. The key is defining what is considered a "decent consignment."
I have been told that there is a 20% seller's commission as well as the buyer's commission. And I have paid the seller's commission many times in the past with consignments that were of high interest to the auction houses.

Can I use you to negotiate with Heritage on my behalf the next time?

Congratulations to Ian. He deserves it!

My only complaint is he hasn’t been able to find any black NGC slabs to auction off LOL.
