  • Hey Bsttauss it says I sold it for $1 because
eBay would not allow me to type in more then
$999 and some one thought there were going to buy it for
$1 but the guy did not read the description so I relisted it

  • Hey Buffalo, should I just send it to PCGS with like
A letter or maybe call them first ? Or is there a more
    Recommended company ?

  • I see the point lol and with that logic....I believe the coin to be legit ...
I will know as well lol as everyone else when I get it confirmed
    From professionals...

  • Because no coin company has ever sold anything that wasn't 100% legit?

Quote · I see the point lol
And with that logical thinking...I believe the coin to be legit
But will not be certain until I have it checked by precessionals...

I wouldn’t send it in until it’s been checked with XRF

That would be the cheapest approach if one has access.

No, there is no company that is more recommended.

Gotta hand it to the OP for taking the usual beat down here with humor and also for introducing a bunch of experts to something new.
Looks like it's about case closed on this "discovery" though, as @Aspie_Rocco's research has revealed that there are probably millions of these out there... worth approx silver content..
Biggest blunder was linking his auction of course. Opening the door to the dreaded Spam accusation and more seriously, asking 10K before authenticating...
    Oops! 😅

This is supposed to be only copper silver and magnesium and
I'm thinking too much magnesium but IDK

The relevant metal in war nickels is manganese, not magnesium.

Manganese is "paramagnetic" which means something scientifically, but it is not magnetic as us normal people think of it. However, the addition of copper and other elements can make it magnetic.

War nickels are notorious for uneven alloy mixes judging by their appearance, so presumably that is the reason for your particular coin's properties.

crap. i think i skimmed right past this post and a couple shorter posts making commentary like this which would have changed my entire approach. so thanks for making the one post we really needed to see but apparently didn't pay enough attention to. i figured SOMEONE here had to have said something like this. too many bright minds and diverse trades for it NOT to have been said. :+1:

    Just a little unsolicited advice....

There are errors and varieties and oddities to be found. It's all about focus.

As Kenny Rogers once said, you gotta know when to hold 'em, and know when to fold 'em.

By all means, look for the big score, but move on when appropriate. ;)
