I have a 19-something wheat penny with a lot of wear but also some strange markings I've never seen before anyone able to help shed some light? First picture is just a close up on the markings running through the date.

First, thanks for adding pictures! It is post mint damage unfortunately. Something scraping or digging against the surface.

PMD
Not so fast on the PMD! That is a lamination error.

Yes, that is lamination.
I sharpened up the picture a little to see it better..........

Don’t touch that metal hanging off the date
I'm in the lamination camp
I thought lamination at first as well but the closeup made me think damage.

At first I thought damage... but the improved picture above indicates it may be a delamination... Have an expert at the coin shop or a coin show look at it 'in hand'. Cheers, RickO
