FYI there is a monthly show in your neck of the woods. North, about 40 or so miles up the NYS Thruway. Albany, at the Polish Comm. Center. Have you ever been there?
Successful transactions:Tookybandit. "Everyone is equal, some are more equal than others".
@BLUEJAYWAY ... Thanks. No, I have not been there... did not even know about it. Albany is not a familiar area for me.... but will look into it. Cheers, RickO

They charge admission, but I think in your case they would let you in for free if you showed them a toned (tarnished) coin.

I actually have a place an hour from Albany.
Are there any shows in the area that are a "must go to"? thnx
@jkrk.... I do not know of any shows at all... did not know about this one. This area is a dead zone for coins. Probably NYC would have some, but I do not go there - at all. Cheers, RickO

Funny. I live in nyc half the year and have never been to a show.
There are a few on Long Island. A few in NJ. There is A world coin show in Jan but no major US coin show in Manhattan . Go figure?
I stopped by for an hour or so as the show opened. There were quite a few waiting to get in and there was a bit of a buzz as the doors opened. I did a quick tour of the floor and stopped at my two favorite dealers. Between them they bought 5 pieces (4 CBH and a $3 gold piece) for strong prices. Both said that they have experienced strong sales the last week or two. Of course, the Raleigh show had just started so they were unable to assess sales.
All the tables were full this time and the usual stamp and supply tables were also in attendance. I only recall seeing one or two masks.
As I walked around the floor, I noticed zero copper "bullion" this time, but lots of gold and silver. None of it was marked as to price. I did overhear a few verbal quotes for 90% silver at 21 or 22 times face, but that is about it.
Hope that is helpful.
Edited to add: My goal at this show was to sell some pieces to help fund another online purchase. I did look for pieces to buy - but I saw nothing that I had to have.

I did not go, had to open shop today, but several of my customers and dealer friends went and/or set up. Show was kick a$$ from what I herd. Lots of stuff coming in from folks to sell, and lots of stuff being bought up from public coming in to buy. One dealer freind of mine bought 70K from folks . Lots of people looking for gold , and there was plenty there. Silver eagles were flying out the door as well. Carson City Morgans were hot (not GSA cases)
I am not buying much high end stuff for myself, but told a few of my customers if they happen to see a nice MS 1700's large cent, half cent or 1700's $5 or $10 gold give me buzz, and Id ride up. Didnt hear from any on that , so i ssume thier wasnt?
No sales tax on coins/bullion in NC now. Just supplies, Now certain kinds of coins technically can be, the statute reads investment coins are not taxable: technically wheat cents are investment instrument if you buy them for investment, tokens and such as i guess could be said the same, its a gray area.
I attended Saturday morning and dragged the girlfriend along (she was a good sport about it though!). This is my second coin show ever. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed myself at this one, more so than the last Raleigh coin show I attended. Walked the floor a couple times and as Cameonut said there was lots of gold and silver bullion for sale. I picked up 8 or 9 BU Jeffersons for a new dansco I'm filling up along with a pretty toned mercury dime in PCGS plastic and a really attractive Greek 30 Drachmai coin. Enjoyed talking with several dealers about the type of coins I like in general and browsing the show. Looking forward to the next one!
Not bad - did go today and for a few hours. My observations:
This show is a bit smaller than the one in June that is nearby at the convention center. I felt like there was a lot of bullion, and raw coins, both in cardboard clips and large books, and less graded coins at this show. Lots and lots of bullion - more than we saw at the June show. My efforts to find nice graded Liberty peace dollars were few and far between (except for 22 and 23s - just low graded common dates which I am not looking for) and most of the raw ones were visibly cleaned or AU. I had good discussion with many dealers who believe, like I do, that actually gem or near gem (64) examples are not that readily available. Especially blast white... so the show only confirmed my view of high grade peace dollars but there were plenty of Morgan’s - mostly ungraded as well.
So I ended up buying a few smalls and one really nice 1881 CC:
I picked up 2 coins.

Sissy Usually attends the Wilmington show. She purchases a lot from one of the local dealers here in town. She must have a place around the wilmington area as they are a large area for filming in the past.
I might add this, its funny looking at photo's from shows on the forum and know just about everyone in the pic, including some of the folks walking around. Normally, the posters are not from here, so i dont know but one or two if they happen to be in a pic or national dealer.

We will be set up!
HAPPY COLLECTING
I’ll be there on the 5th - bringing lots of trades and will be looking for a few specific coins —
I will attend early on the 5th.
By the way I believe the show is on the 5th and 6th. Not the 4th and 5th. You might want to edit the title.

I've been a member here for a while but I've still not attended a coin show. Can I brings coins there to sell to the vendors?
Don't quote me on that.
Yes - buy, sell, trade

Did Sissy Spacek show up? Lots of tales of here dropping coin at that show years ago!
I did not see her - but I will say I was very pleased to see many young collectors and that included young ladies - was nice to see
I see your LOL! That's not a BS story!
Also picked this up:
I’m a huge fan - would have loved to see her. Ever watched “Raggedy man”?
I picked up 2 coins.

If I had to choose I think I like her best in "Coal Miner's Daughter".
