useful pcgs TV image link coding info - debunked

for anyone that has noticed the url change for trueview (not CF), it has become a bit more challenging to work with the urls to get a size/style or whatever for the images. i've been asking about this for a while with no progress being made (that i noticed).

SO, a simple and obvious solution finally presented itself.

when on the cert verify page. if you right click the small image (don't left click the image), this is what you get.

click that image once, you are still on the cert verify page but get a slightly different url.

so you can see that we still have the option to modify the small/large/max/2200 etc part of the url for the size we want for TV images.

once you click that down arrow at the top right, it opens in a new tab and that was where i used to get my TV link (default MAX) and would modify it from there but since they switched to using the url below, that wax nixed. unfortunately the simple solution hasn't resonated with me til now. (look above)

SO, since the images are STILL hosted using the previous url, i think that means that even though pcgs changed that url, all that did was start double/triple hosting the same images of the same size. so pcgs, this MAY save you an enormous amount of space/bandwidth/cost etc by continuing to use the original link and nixing the new one? maybe i'll get a bug fix badge?

shouldn't be much but a bit of code change and a deletion of a crap ton of duplicate images. i have this similar challenge in my own database of images. unnecessary duplicates. sometimes they are useful on a smaller scale.

it basically just gives one the option again to use the size specifiers with the old format link which i thought was gone forever with the new format. having easy access to Max images comes in handy in many forms.

update. it appears we CAN"T modify those links to get Max images afterall. all that effort for naught.

we aren't done with this YET!
