Platinum Mega Thread. Any and all Platinum Group treasures.

I recall being at my son's Kung Fu lesson and calling Apmex to ask that they switch my recently reserved PCGS MS69 2017 palladium for their just released batch of MS70s for what seemed like a couple hundred bucks difference. Glad I did!
Can we see some PT? I'm especially interested in the more scarce platinum eagle reverses.

Reverse of the 2017:

That 2017 reverse is great! Nice bits of bullion.
My Collection of Old Holders
Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
This is my new favorite. Mirror finish platinum from the Philadelphia Mint. Only 100 struck and this is #96. PCGS did not grade this correctly at MS65, in my opinion, as it is proof-like and stunning in hand. I will consider trying again.
My US Mint Commemorative Medal Set
Wow. That is really impressive, @Goldminers . I've never seen one before.

I'm merely a bullion investor. But I did buy this one Pt coin trapped inside this plastic contraption right here in the PM BST. Looks like it scored 70 out of 100 on some rating scale.
I joined the Platinum party by building a set of 3 finishes issued for 2007 anniversary way back when all platinum was well above gold spot, oops.
Still dig the 2007 issues & cool reverse, but I suspect I remain buried, underwater.
The 2015 reverse was a favorite for me, and incredibly low production mintage so I jumped when opportunity to buy an as pictured real coin, not some random stock pix offer.
May not be buried on the 2015 oz but I see them as a collection, so I guess I am most likely underwater on the four.
El Tigre is on its way to me:
Love me some Platinum! Diggin the RP Versions, for sure.
@MilesWaits I've been eyeing that tiger too but haven't pulled the trigger. Nice buy!
Here is my koala with American Eagle Privy:

It’s a sleeper....!!
Yes! That's what I'm talking about!

I have not added any platinum or palladium coins to my collection. That being said, I do think that they have really great designs. I stick to gold and silver for my PM collections.... Cheers, RickO
Platinum has always attracted me for some reason. A couple 1/4 ounce eagles and a pure platinum key charm that weighs a hair over 1/4 ounce.

I think you are in the majority Ricko. We are a devout minority that can’t help ourselves.
I added palladium eagles and sold palladium maples.
I also own a half ounce palladium panda. It too is a keeper.
My two metals that won’t tone!
@MilesWaits your statement rings true to my PGM ears…. One regret I have is not picking up a 1/2oz palladium panda in 69 for $888 (Chinese lucky number)
Here is my first platinum coin, MS 66 out of 66 yeah! I got it about ten years ago for twice the amount + that it’s worth today… a little buried but I still love it.

It's all about what the people want...
And here is my latest…
Granted it’s not a full noble, but I’m more than happy with a half noble - its a 1984 “young queen”, was a good price (IMO) and it’s in 69 plastic which is a plus.
Cheers

I traded my local dealer 10 1-ounce gold pamp bars for these on October 11, 2011. Am I under water? I bought the gold pretty cheap, IIRC. And I would be just as happy to have some diversification now as I was then.
Yeah, I'm underwater
My records indicate I bought this from Apmex 05-20-2010...for $452 per ounce. And I brilliantly sold it 12-03-2010 right back to Apmex for $7500. Boy was I smart or what!?

I agree Weiss, I haven’t done well with platinum overall, palladium yes, but the pre Pt 2004 Eagles in the reverse type proofs are so cool! And I love the buffed Liberty with the thick-steroid neck.
Ten ounce palladium at a low spot price, who woulda thought it would rise so significantly!?
Luke, I recall Pulling the trigger on a gold coin at $888 an ounce because I love those numbers. As do the Chinese, apparently. Some of the Dragon series coins will come in at that number for mintage. Very sweet half Noble!
The six year "American Vistas" series (1997 - 2002) and the 2007 reverse proof set.

.
Another very cool 1 ounce platinum:

I have had a few like bullion related stories and figure WTH and move on. Profit is not a dirty word!
