Low mintage...
Crazy low mintage and a popular series. Low supply, high demand.

I ask myself the same question: why is this worth so much?
And how many other amazing, truly rare coins could I buy with $16,000 and have money left over for beer?

Wow.... Super premium price..... Maybe a registry set collector with deep pockets will pay that.... Even list prices do not show that much... Cheers, RickO
You can get them for less than that - I’ve seen them for ~9k
There are 6 other V75 gold eagle PR70's on eBay with higher asking prices than that NGC at $16,000, or best offer. The PCGS price guide is $14,500 for a PR70.
Most recent eBay and Heritage actual sales range from $10,800 to $15,250. Several have sold above that with a Mercanti or special label. (Yes, it is only a label, but they often sell for more). There are a lot of gold eagle bullion collectors, and this had only 1,945 minted, (end of WW2, 75 years since Victory privy), making it the key to the series.

Not a lot of supply, plenty of demand. They still bring a high price in auction. I like the one I have but I think I would be happier if I could trade it for a nice 1799 Eagle.
They had some questionable "buyers", one who just opened an ebay account; another said he was going to come into the shop to buy it but never showed.
I managed to get the Silver V75 privy Eagle, but rue missing out on the Gold V75 privy, but didnt have high hopes due to the EXTREMELY limited mintage (1945). Cant afford nor justify it now.
The 1995 W proof Silver, this Gold V75 (have a sample of each proof gold Eagle in some fraction or another, mostly 1/4 oz), and maybe the reverse proof Gold Eagle and Buffalo are what I'm missing. The latter was by choice at the time as I didnt appreciate reverse proof that much. Now its nagging me, but not at these prices.
Yeah, they better add $50 shipping if you're going to ship registered.
Nice. Imagine getting that one ounce then and being able to trade it for 8 ounces of the same thing ( gold) in uncirculated coins, now. Great return (or flip) in short order.

That's the way to expand your numismatic knowledge, and goals.
Hadn't thought of it that way but that would be a great way to trade one.
Don't forget to put a few thousand dollars aside for Federal and State taxes. Maybe go with 5-6

At this price maybe I need to sell mine.
Although I might just have to put more than just a few thousand dollars aside for the taxes.
Anyone interested at 50% of this guy's ebay asking price?
