yes, die fill error
Good to know, I’ve been sorting through them and I’ve been finding die cracks my grandfather had these hidden and I’m still wondering why he never told anyone in the family about his coin collection even though I had the same hobby as him.
I’m amazed at the amount he collected over his lifetime.
Looks like a grease filled die error. And ... WOW... that looks like it will be fun to search through... Hope you find a couple of treasures. Cheers, RickO
That box full of large cents and two cent pieces looks like something that would have been commonly seen in coin shops 50-60 years ago. It should be fun to look through.
Haven't seen those cent boxes in a LOT of years. I like the OP's woodgrained 2center.

That is a beautiful box of coins. The two cent series had a lot of RPDs and other interesting varieties, so check those dates.

I would love to go through your copper treasure trove.
