I believe one of the movies is Ghost. The coin is a Lincoln cent and the date SHOULD be 1943 because a steel cent was actually (but plated) used to be able to attract to a magnet to make the coin appear moving by itself. It was plated copper so it looked like a common cent used in 1990.
Not sure on the other movie but will have to give it some thought.
