I figured I was going to do either LB or ANA, but both would have been too much. Opted for ANA.

I spent 2 hours at the PCGS booth
Reconsiderations, raw coins submission, crossovers, and the modem special.
I was tired afterwards but still had a couple hours to see the bourse .
Your not missing much ….
Maybe the first time I don’t buy anything.
Some interesting stories to share however on a sad note Muriel Emery passed away a few weeks ago Ron Guth told me .

8 Reales Madness Collection
I’m attending until Friday. Haven’t seen much of interest yet though! Many dealers seem to have smaller displays out than normal.
If it's like other recent shows: big crowd, lots of dealers, little interesting material.
Call me a naysayer, but no thanks. I'd rather do my shopping online right now.
Even the junque is going to auction now, so I don't miss the shows in the least.
(Then again, I don't go to shows to socialize. I go to buy.)
Surprising that NGC isn't there. Was this a last minute decision?
You're a naysayer!

What was interesting there were dealers set up who told me they will continue to do so as long as they live.
Two of them told me this without me asking.

Here's my Long Beach pickup (Long Beach on the Seine ).
It says (translated) "Engraved by Luciano Rovira who dedicates it to the superintendent of the Mexican Mint, Don Yldefonso Maniau. 1833."
It isn't a known medal, so perhaps it was a sample of his work trying to obtain a job at the Mexican Mint (in which he was successful), or maybe just an academic exercise which never proceeded beyond the trial stage. Whatever the case, it certainly shows Rovira's skill as an engraver.
I don't have a biography of Rovira handy, but I wonder if he was employed at the Mint in 1833. Perhaps he executed this as a student in Paris or something? Maybe it was attached to the top of his resume/CV?
As a comparison, Rovira engraved the first (pattern) Centavo and (pattern) Peso of Mexico in 1841 and 1842, respectively (see below).
Here are my only pickups
Ironically some of these raw dates I may include in my set ! The 1831 has some sort of mark/Rosett or something?
Also your thoughts on the 1829 zs
ao?

Yep. Muriel was instrumental in the opening of the PCGS Paris office and the news circulated like a flash over here. Truly sad.
That’s the way I like it.
