How'd I do on 2021 Morgan/Peace grading?

After 2.5 long months of waiting I got my grades back for my 2021 Morgan/Peace submissions. I got 50% MS69 and 50% MS70's.
2021D both MS69. 2021S both MS70. 2021 one MS69 and one MS70. 2021 Peace Dollars one MS70 and one MS69. All labeled FS. Does 50% sound accurate, low, high or about right? After examining the coins I can't see one iota of difference in any of them. ;-) regards, karl

When you play the "69"/"70" game you should expect to be surprised quite often. You are talking about coins with very little difference between them. Is this a game you really want to play?
That’s a small sample size, so it’s hard to draw conclusions - did you screen them for 70s first or did you send them all?
I got a few 2020-W proof silver eagles graded that turned out to be "groaners"; didnt grade well. 2 were 67s, and the best was 69. I know its a matter of number of imperfections, but thru the holder I could not see what made them grade so bad.
... But I'm not an expert grader by any stretch of imagination. (I have some older coins I may post pix of at a later date for grade assistance from the good board members here ... some day.)
Did you get Trueviews? Any pix?
Agreed!
Considering that about 4 out of 5 will grade 70 i would say you did poorly. 2 out of 3 for the Denver mint.

In general, I would have expected more 70's.... That being said, it is rarely easy to differentiate between 69 and 70 for people who are not experienced graders. Cheers, RickO
These are bullion struck specially for bullion collectors. They are treated with loving care and each one should grade MS 70. An MS 69 or less is a complete rip.
Comparing these to actual coins that survive without the kid glove treatment isn't fair.
Percent making 70 @ PCGS. Data through 2.14.2022

Except for the 2021 S Morgans, your submission contributed to lowering the averages.

You can’t make any conclusion about the grades reported other than how many were slabbed. You would need to know how many did not min grade and those numbers don’t exist publicly.
I sent in 120 Morgan/peace dollars. I think I did well. The D’s were tough and only 30% got 70. I min grade at 69 and got 3 back and I don’t look at them before submitting.
I didn't expect anything . I sent a PCGS MS 65 1921 Morgan Dollar and a raw 2021 Morgan Dollar to PCGS for grading.
They came back 1921 MS 65 and 2021 MS 70. No matter how hard I tried to mess the submission up with misspelling and ignoring the PCGS EMail they got it perfect. Thanks PCGS - for a job well done.
I thought D had a bunch of dogs, so I'd be happy with those. Unless that was just a vicious nasty rumor. Lol.
@jessewvu Out of 120 coins you sent in only 3 came back because they weren't 69 or 70. How many of those 120 hit the 70 mark? If I were to guess it would be about 85 of them.

Given that I’ve been following the pop report since early on (and periodically reporting here as above), the % that make 70 has been gradually falling - evidence to suggest that earlier minimum grade submission, which over-represented the 70s, are now being diluted by more recent submission with a minimum grade request.
Further, initial minimum grade 70 submissions had the effect of creating unequal total numbers slabbed across the various 2021 Morgan and Peace dollars.
I think reasonably valid conclusions can be drawn.

I was actually able to purchase all these coins within the first 2-3 minutes of the ordering window opening. I was hoping for more in the MS70 category if they really WERE struck together and was a bit disappointed that all the coins were received by me on the same day.........yet graded as they did. Not being a professional coin grader I couldn't see a difference in any of them, so anything causing deductions had to have been miniscule. Thanks for the responses everyone!
I sent them all in straight from the mint. I seriously couldn't see a difference in any of them, but am not a professional grader so not sure where the "distractions on the coins" were that would cause them all to not be MS70's.
Get a really bright pinpoint light source (I use a halogen desk lamp) and rotate the coin underneath - I bet you will find a tiny nick somewhere after a minute or two. Look at each part of the coin methodically while rotating. My record is not amazing, but I’ve gotten better and it has gotten easier to spot the MS69’s with practice. The downside is that once you spot the issue, you will never be able to unsee it when you look at the coin in the future!
No wonder the Denver 70's are so expensive, they graded the poorest.
