Walking liberty half rim clip? A few other clips posted

My 7 yr old son and I have been going through 500 dollar bags of 90% Silver this winter building his sets. This weekend was a 500 dollar bag of walkers. Pretty boring bag overall but when we went to put this 44 into his album realized what I thought was a rim bump at first appears to be a rim clip.
Not worth much more than silver but his second error find. His 1919 double die dime will be hard for him to beat

The doubling on the lettering is just an artifact in the first picture

I've seen many certified like this as "Minor Clipped Planchet".

At least you/your son found something out of 1000 halves. More memories made with Dad - and something to add to his mental numismatic rolodex. Sounds like a win/win despite financial upswing!

Looks like just some post mint damage to me. even small rim clips look different than that. Even if it is a genuine rim clip it is so small it would most likely have no premium at all.

Here are 3 certified "Minor Clipped Planchet" coins - they do look strange before any real amount is missing to put aa % on it, but...

Interesting but I would pass on buying a coin like those. If found in a bag for an album thats one thing.

I really could not see anyone ever paying a premium for a clip so small but fun to find
I have found a fair amount of clipped coins in 90% bags. But my first walking lib even if a tiny clip

Here are a few others i found the past year or so. The nickels were found in change and the 63 dime in a bag of 90% Silver.

@fishteeth those rim clips are better. The dime might need a quick dip, but looks nice. Your son must be having fun going thru all those coins.

    I think there's a difference between a clip and a smash.

Looks like a disc clip to me. A disc clip basically occurs when the clip doesn’t affect the circumference of the coin/rim.

I'm addicted to exonumia ... it is numismatic crack!

I would likely overlook such small rim clips, thinking PMD.....But good that you are catching them.... good for his training. Great picture of him and the stacks of halves. Cheers, RickO

@fishteeth Its great to see other YNs in the hobby! He seems to have a bright future ahead. As for the clip, I have very little experience with them but they do seem to match the ones @StrikeOutXXX posted. @ErrorsOnCoins would probably know for sure though. Good luck!

Proper tapering of the design rim. No marks parallel to the rim (that can be seen). Yes, it’s a rim clip.

Definitely a genuine rim clip, nice find in bulk silver. Not worth much of a premium as it is a common date and a small clip, but still an exciting find for your son.

How about some album shots so we can see the progress.
