What are your thoughts on Improperly Annealed Coins?

While CRH quarters, I have come across several Improperly Annealed Coins. I have seen several on line graded by PCGS. What are your thoughts on these coins and are they collectable.

I would say that at least 50% of the stuff you find while CRHing is stuff that some collectors want. The problem is that most of the collectors that want those things would rather find it themselves by CRHing rather than pay anyone for it. Some exceptions to that are things like the W quarters when those coins are new and hot, and a handful of really in demand varieties that registry sets call out for. The rest you are likely to get lots of likes and atta boys, but fewer solid buyers for.
As to improperly annealed coins specifically I do not know if there is any strong demand as I am not a collector of this type of material, and if I were I would be in that first group that would prefer to find it myself.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
I think the more dramatic the effect, does add to the desirability. Peace Roy

Personally, I'm not a big fan of misannealed errors. Depending on the process parameters, you can see a variety of surface effects, and some/many if these look like environmental damage. A coin like @ErrorsOnCoins posted shows the nice copper migration on the surface, but process nonconformances such as temps too high or low and/or oxidizing or reducing furnace atmospheres can all look different.
I don't collect them, but I do have some 1958 and 1959 "black beauty" nickels that I have been selling on eBay. They do sell, but not for much money.
Many coins that have such an appearance, are post mint environmental damage. Even if improperly annealed, I have seen little interest in such coins - with the exception of a coin such as @ErrorsOnCoins posted. Cheers, RickO
They are probably a "one way market": I want to sell you this for a big premium but I don't buy any for a premium.
By checking Ebay for one source, the graded ones do sell if they are not over priced. There were Several SBA that sold between $40-$50 and a Nickel very unique looking sold for $175. It might take a while to sell, it does appear they will sell as long as they priced fairly.
