"Into each Life, a little rain must fall"
Hi guys,
I knew everything was going too well for me lately. Lol.
From my recent submission arrival. I received my three coin, long awaited package. Almost 2 months. All 3 coins came back unscathed. Yippie! So I thought? One of the coins, the 1956 Proof Jefferson nickel. The grade that they gave me was fantastic. It's the designation, is the problem area. It came back a PF.67. I was hoping PCGS would give me the FS-102 DDO designation for that particular variety.
Here's the weird part. PCGS did give me the DDO designation. However, It wasn't the FS-102 variety. In which, for that grade of PF. 67 would bring nearly a $200-$250, Price value. All our host gave me written on the holder is an, "Minor Variety" DDO.
In return would only bring a $35 value! I don't get it? To me, all the doubling markings seem to be there? Even on Variety Vista's pics would be similar to my coin. I don't understand why I wouldn't receive the FS-102 Designation?
Oh well, I guess I shouldn't complain too much. Everything has been fine and dandy in my CRH's, cherry picks, the kindness and help from you guys and all the outcomes from all my submissions from our Host. Until now, Lol. What do you guys think? Would you take PCGS's side, in deciding my DDO was too vague to get that better FS-102? or do you guys feel I should of gotten the highly valued variety Designation FS-102?
Still happy in the end. I figure I at least received some kind of "DDO Variety documentation"!
Thank You, my friends!
Here are some pics.

I’ve had problems in the past with incorrect FS numbers or the same problem you have. I photocopied the reference circling the most obvious die markers and put it in for reconsideration. 3/4 so far with this procedure.

Up to you Joey, you could submit for reconsideration, with associated documentation, and highlighting the PUP's that agree with the FS-102. If it means a lot to you, then try it.... If not, be happy with what you have. Good luck, Cheers, RickO
Check DDO-005. The 1956 proof Jefferson DDOs are evil mimics of each other. I'm not sure the spread on yours is large enough for FS-102, but I really can't tell from the pictures.

Congrats on the grade, bummer on the "minor variety" attribution. It does appear rather minor, though.
I guess the effort only depends on if you are selling. If not, just enjoy it for what it is.

DDO-005 - I tend to agree with their assessment
Thanks guys.

I most probably will keep as is.

It is a minor variety that is now starting to cost you money. Sell it and move on.
