My first Coinstar score

vplite99vplite99 Posts: 1,328 ✭✭✭✭✭

For years I have walked past the Coinstar machine at the front of my neighborhood Walmart Grocery. This is a busy area, and only once before have I seen coins in the reject slot; two newer Lincoln cents.

Today I spotted a few coins in the slot and casually grabbed them. A Lincoln cent, a Canadian cent, a new nickel, and a 1963 dime!

Silver is good! My most recent silver find was a 1965 .720 fine Moroccan coin. It was mixed in with a small group of other foreign.

Both the nickel and the cent are dated 1915-D!
What are the odds of that happening?

That dime was for sure a NICE find!
I found this yesterday laying on top of a concrete curb in down town Huntington.
I thought it strange to even find one these, but even stranger was the location.
I know its not worth much, but I thought it was a nice find.

Free silver always make a day, even if it's a war nickel,

It is really funny, somehow that less than $2 coin find made my day. And the market was up so I'm sure many of us made over a 1000 times that on paper. Just the kid in a coin collector on the dark side of 70.

You should be around me or one of my brothers when we're metal detecting and one of us pulls one of these out of the ground :D
For us, in this area these are a pretty rare find.

That is great... those silver dimes go right through the Coinstar and into the reject bin. I found a dime in the Coinstar yesterday as well... but it was not silver, just a modern clad. Cheers, RickO
