Should there be a thread for this

Wondering if there should be a thread for pics of labels of coins that have been cracked out. It would make pop reports more accurate if PCGS knew of these. I have 3 labels I keep in with the album.

a stamp and envelope would work too. not sure if they would do it from those but the good thing is, all you gotta do is keep checking. i personally would just send em and be done with it.

appreciate those to put for the little effort to clean the pops.

Well I was thinking a thread that they could check so people could keep the labels with the album.

I really don't think they care. That's a lot of work for them and no profit. If they can find a way to make $$ from it??? Maybe if you send in $10 with each label. Minimum of $17 to grade, only $10 to ungrade, sounds like a bargain to me. ;)

You are supposed to send them back to PCGS. I believe you get a 50 cent credit per label if I remember correctly...?
I highly doubt they would remove certs based on pictures of freed labels. No way to tell what is authentic or not. Not saying that you would fake a label to invalidate a cert, there are some strange people out there who might.

I have to agree there is too much downside and little upside for PCGS to monitor a thread like that. Nice way to think outside the box but not likely a good option.

IMO, once the slab is cracked the insert is worthless. Who's to say you there hasn't
been a switcharoo when it comes time to sell. Send the insert back to the appropriate
TPG and move on. There was a dealer several years ago who donated a garbage bag
full to the ANA. He had several thousand if I remember correctly. PCGS does to my
knowledge adjust the pop report when it receives the cracked out insert.

You send in the labels and they will get removed

You could just keep the picture of the labels and send the actual ones to PCGS. Otherwise, as others have mentioned, they won't remove them from the pop reports.

Not a thread, per se . There should be a bounty on those. Say $5 discount per label toward any submission.

The only way for the population reports to be adjusted, is to send the labels to the TPG. Many complaints about the pop reports here... That is one major reason. Cheers, RickO

Unfortunately they will never be able to get the POP reports even close to accurate. I know of at least 7 collectors I have sold PCGS mid-grade Barber Halves to who immediately crack them out and put the coins in an album. Most throw their labels in the garbage, even with me begging them to at least keep them if not give them to me.
