PCGS on site grading special at Long Beach

I am sure some have seen our host's on-site $45 grading special at Long Beach for 10 or more U.S. coins valued at <$750. What are the chances that will be repeated at Baltimore? Inquiring minds want to know, if only to avoid the long wait times.

I’m guessing the line to submit coins at Long Beach will be very long with this promotion.
Does there need to be a line? If you can send 10 coins with proper forms by mail, can't you drop them in person at the show?
PCGS doesn't have a record for running the same special consecutively...quarter to quarter or show to show. They try to be creative and surprise us.
So I wouldn't expect to see this one again very soon. Too bad. It's a good deal (though a shame the $750 cap is so low, IMO).
I don't think many show attendees would be keen on dropping off a box to avoid waiting in line (if it's even possible). Getting submissions accepted with immediate receipts is kind of important when you're hoping for a quick turnaround.

That was my feeling as well, Lance. Plus, I think Long Beach is PCGS's back yard, so to speak, so it would seem that they could handle a large influx of coins.

I’m still waiting on my submission from mid November. What’s the current supposed timeline??
Unfortunately there will be a slim to none chance of this grading special happening at Baltimore.
How is this a good deal when the normal price for grading coins valued less than $2500 is $38?
Not having to wait 4 months?
For coins of such limited value (<$750) I don’t see how a few months here or there makes much difference. By my experience, the majority of “show” submissions to PCGS are by dealers, and the coins are valued substantially higher than $750.
What happens if I want to submit a coin that's easily between $1-2k? Can it only be insured for 750? Will they not even grade it? Will they upcharge me to a different tier?

Likely an upcharge, IMO, if they choose to do so. I have had it happen to me.

Right. You will have to declare its value as $750 or less. Insurance will be limited to that.
Your coin will be graded and there will be an additional charge. This, of course, is if the coin is clearly worth more than $750 (but not outrageously so).
If it's close you'll skate.
Lance.
Seems like a very low premium ($45 v. $38) for saving a month or more AND saving the shipping/ins. round trip (if you're going to be there anyway).
What’s the guaranteed turnaround time for this “grading special”? Asked differently, do you know you’ll get the coins back, while still at the show and thus save on return shipping, too?

I've waited in that line before at Long Beach............but it was worth it

Whatever special they had at the last Long Beach show, the lines were so long, that I could have paid someone to wait in line for me, run five miles, showered, come back, and I still would have had to wait. The PCGS booth got far more traffic than any other in the place.

Good idea. I remember a dealer paying people to wait in a line for them at some show before. Worth considering if they allow it.
