MS-63 High Relief Saint

Was anyone else watching this rather short duration listing for a PCGS graded MS-63 1907 High Relief Saint?

When I saw the listing on January 26th I scanned the seller's feedback which was positive, but limited. I did not get a strong numismatic vibe from the feedback I could see, but this was seller's only current listing so I sent the following message to the Seller:
"Can you message over some additional photos. I am interested in the coin, but can't tell if the chatter is just luster breaks, or something more. Maybe photos from additional angles will help. Thanks."
No response, so I tried to reach the seller again yesterday, on July 27th, but that attempt was met with: "Unfortunately this seller can't respond to your question." I looked the coin up on the PCGS cert site, but the coin is in a private registry set, so no luck there.
Until today the bids were all in the $6,000 - 9,900 range, so it looked like someone was going to get a deal. The bidding heated up this morning during the final minutes, and the coin eventually sold at 8:01am PST for $17,701.
While I decided to pass, I hope someone got a good coin.
If you were the successful bidder, please let us know how it turns out.

That thing is pretty hammered.
You lucked out.

Maybe it is the photos but there are better MS63 coins out there. I would have passed too.

I wonder if the seller knew that and that's why he blocked me from further questions after I asked him:
"Can you message over some additional photos. I am interested in the coin, but can't tell if the chatter is just luster breaks, or something more. Maybe photos from additional angles will help. Thanks."

If you ignore the label and just look at the coin, it doesn't appear MS-63. Hoping it's just the photo or the lighting.

I like the color. I don’t like that someone keyed it.
I like gold coins... and that one has some positive attributes. That being said, I find the surfaces unattractive... Too much - well -whatever that is.. chatter, residue etc. Cheers, RickO
Hate to see it, but I had a suspicion this might happen. Hope the Buyer got his money back.
Seller got the money and left positive feedback, likely to lull the Buyer into a false sense of security.
A month later, and Buyer posts this:

Looks like Seller additionally took $100 BIN from this Buyer:

a high risk transaction all around.
low feedback, i didn't see any coin sales in all sold items, mostly low dollar, especially recently, then a out of nowhere monster coin. 95% scam transaction OR they sold it off site. either way risky and annoying. still not impossible the images are borrowed. i'm not looking any further though.
sold - active - fb - bid history
just keeping my digging skills active.
He also had this coin for auction that he supposedly sold .....

I sent 2 messages asking for more close up pics of obverse and reverse , heard nothing back .
Been on ebay long enough to know that ( and no recent sales of expensive items ) was a BAD sign .
Additional pics are good way to see if the seller actually has the item they are selling .
Not true. Very low risk, as are all transactions on eBay. I have bid on and won similar listing that turned out to be bogus, but have always been made whole by eBay. People love to complain about eBay but their buyer protection is top notch.

i agree but i meant high risk of not coming to fruition.
Exactly. And this is one of the biggest reasons that eBay is worth the transaction costs. Go buy that coin for 5% cheaper on Facebook marketplace and let me know how it works out.
