A raw buffalo Nickel I'd like to share
It's been a while since I've posted a raw buffalo nickel but this one here, I found grazing in the wild and bought it. It appears as though it was stuck with the hammer from hell in fact it might just be the sharpest strike, I've ever seen on a 23 buffalo nickel. I know how I think it'll grade out, but I'd like to hear from my second family here. So please do chime in and let me know what you think.
Thanks for looking and happy hunting, Joe

Very nice, love the toning. If the luster is there, I'm thinking 66+ or 67.
I don't know, but she's Purdy!
I’m in the MS-65/6+ as well. The plus is for the color. Nice
Hoard the keys.
Lol. Joe, you do it time and time again. You pick those Bison gems like your picking a ripe melon from the produce stand. Lol.

I must say, this has got to reach that high plateau of ms 67+. You certainly also have that great eye for color too.
Congratulations

1923 was a good for the Philly strikes, and while this is a very nice coin with better than average eye appeal I am not seeing higher than 65+ due to the weakness on the rev strike. Please update with your results as it will be interesting to see how it grades.

I'm thinking 65 or 65÷
Nice coin

For a comparison. Here’s another 23 graded 65 by PCGS and CAC’ed.

Very well struck Buff, Joe. You know that while many are sharply struck, few are fully struck like this one. Very few nice 23 Buffs have a full tail so that speaks of the reverse dies. I think this reverse is very well struck. Love the color and because of the color I feel 66+ would be warranted. JMO, but great pickup.

That will do well, high MS great coin.
I do not know the Buffalo series yet but that one is very nice and I would gander at 67.
Looks like some attractive Machine Doubling going on with PLURIBUS, Joe. Just a side note.

Thinking MS66, let us know!
Great looking coin . 2 on date appears to be doubled. Don't know if its strike doubling or doubled die. There is a DDO for that year, but doubling is at base of 2. Might be worth checking out. This is a time when we all would rely on Koynekwest.
Yes he was the best there was for varieties, no question. I know I miss him and I’m sure most all of us do. He was a good man.
That's a beautiful buff, Joe! Your photos, as usual, capture the _character _of the coin. __
I would guess 65, The strike is great. They seem to grade mostly by the amount of luster. I have trouble judging luster in pictures. So maybe a 66 if its a "Blazer".
Here is my PCGS 64

Looks at least 66 to me, Joe. It has nice color, a full top feather and sharp central details.
Where do you find this stuff?
Pete
I got lucky😊
Nice pics as always.
I'd guess 66 but I'm definitely not a buff expert.
65+ and if resubmitted a few times, 66. A very nice Buffalo.

That is a beautiful Buffalo nickel... I would say MS66... and, could easily get a +.... Cheers, RickO
I agree with the above estimates of MS66, Great looking Buff! These guys are getting harder and harder to find in the wild.
Very nice looking buff!
Alright, I'm gonna say it....67. But that's just me. Very very nice. Peace Roy

Is that your picture or theirs? do you have coin in hand?
the reason I ask is having gotten coins that have had some photo trickery - not sure if layered or overlay with a proof, but coin received even though colors and nicks matched up .... strike details did not.
That IS a stunning beast!
Amazing strike and color. Looks flashy too!
Quess is 66 or better.
Nice score!

Very nice MS 66
Thank you all for your responses. It’s one of those super strikes for the date is the way I see it. The luster is strong and the surfaces are pretty damn nice along with nice square sharp rims. In my opinion it should grade no lower than a 66. I’m amazed this kinda stuff is out there floating around.
For 120 bucks I’ll take it.
Thanks again and happy hunting, Joe
