An 1818 mint set.

After acquiring an 1818 CB quarter the other day, and with the 1818 half I already had, I thought about an 1818 mint set. I didn't realize there were only 4 denominations minted in 1818. Three of them are relatively easy coins to find, the fourth might pose a problem. Prices for that coin with a limited number of known pieces are not astronomical, but finding one for sale might be a problem.

The cent should be easy, due to the Randall hoard coins.
Mine is at PCGS awaiting their verdict:

Nice what do you think it will grade? 61-62BN?

I paid 58 money for it a number of years ago, and will be happy with 58 or higher. I’m sure it is technically uncirculated, from the hoard, but shows cabinet friction, or slight rub from the other coins in the keg.

Which one's do you have? Date sets are fun... often for birth years of family/ancestors. Cheers, RickO

1818 is definitely among the years of tiny but super-cool mint sets. The $5 1818 is an incredible coin, and they seem to be available at auction every few years. I'm slowly attempting a very similar set, but mine is 1820.

    How about an easy one...1816

Just because I'm old doesn't mean I don't love to look at a pretty bust.

The quarter and the half. I would need the cent and half eagle.
