Is Aaron Rodgers done?

After last night's loss what do you think he'll do, stay in Green Bay, go to another team, or just retire?

One thing's for sure, this Cowboy will not be riding off into the sunset after last night's massive stinkfest.

It’s either the toe or the special teams, though, right?

Excuses are like armpits, Aaron; everybody’s got them and they all stink!

he looked pretty dejected after the game. i am sure he wont be retiring though. he likes the limelight too much.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

As for me, I don't get the obsession over what Rodgers does or doesn't do. Who really cares? Players come and go, and in this case, Rodgers won't be homeless, his net worth is north of 120 million. IMO, he's an egotist who loves the limelight and likes to stir the pot.

He played poorly last night and it showed. The defense played pretty well, but the defense can't win the game by itself. Garappolo wasn't exactly on fire and he was held in check by the defense. However, scoring only 3 point in 3 quarters, AT HOME, by the great one, ain't gonna cut it.

In the after game interview he just talked about himself and his future. He could easily have been more professional and given credit to the 49ers, but he just whined about taking time off and making a decision about his future with the Packers. Typical me, me, me.

I couldn't care less where he goes or what he does.

It will be interesting to see where he goes if he gets out of Green Bay.

QB drama in Green Bay? This is the first I've heard of it.

  • VikingDudeVikingDude Posts: 1,343 ✭✭✭

Seriously, how many other QBs can you name that are constantly in the tabloids? They crave this in Green Bay - if they didn't have it, they would be back to the mediocrity like they had in the 70's and 80's.

Their QB drama is almost as annoying as the hype surrounding the Cowboys every year

To me it just seems like Rodgers never has that sense of urgency that a great QB needs.
Just too laid back even late in the game when they need a game winning drive.
Montana had that calm look also but his competitive fire burned a lot brighter than Rodgers' it seems.
Rodgers' legacy is going to be that he was great in the regular season but choked during the playoffs
and won't be regarded as an all time great.

Maybe the Steelers will come calling after Rothlisberger retires during the offseason.

Well he does have one Super Bowl under his belt, I often wonder if Peyton would suffer this type of potential fate had he not gotten ring #2?

I don’t like Rodgers but will always consider him an Elite player regardless of his post season play

for the last 54 minutes and 25 seconds of that playoff game, an offense led by a guy vying for the league MVP scored 3 points at home

allow that one to marinate for a few

this is just one man's opinion, but many times last night Rodgers looked completely indifferent to me. i saw no fire, no sense of urgency, very little to no mvp-caliber plays............he was just basically out there going through the motions until the clock expired

i can't see any possible way he'll be wearing dark green and gold ever again after that display

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

You know what I think? I think it was the doppelganger that appeared at a Packers home game during the regular season that cost him the game last night, it's bad luck for him. It's a new curse, and it's awesome.

allow me to hark back to one play last night -- the long completion to Aaron Jones toward the end of the first half

    but first

if you've been paying attention, then you're aware of my disdain for Troy Aikman as a sportscaster. i wholeheartedly think the guy sucks at his job. my personal opinion is that he gets paid millions to state the obvious and sully the broadcast by tossing in remarks that he thinks are humorous, but in reality it's nothing short of cringeworthy. the next time he makes me chuckle will be the first time. and to make matters infinitely worse, he laughs at his own lame attempts at humor. seriously, take note the next time he & Buck do a game.

but i digress. back to that pass.

Packers up 7-0 toward the end of the first half in a game where it was crystal clear that every single point scored would be invaluable. Aaron Jones breaks free out of the backfield and I bet there wasn't a Niner DB within 15-20 yards of him. it was a house call on a silver platter. but a man vying for the league MVP could not hit him in stride and thus forced Jones to adjust his body to make the catch, thereby slowing him down just enough to get caught. at face value, wow, great play by Rodgers and the Packers if all you do is listen to Troy Aikman and turn your brain off. in truth, Aaron Rodgers may very well have cost his team the game by making an inaccurate throw there. now only did Jones get tracked down, but the drive then stalled, then the FG attempt was blocked. that "great" play resulted in a grand total of zero points in a game where points were at a premium.

did Troy Aikman, a guy getting paid millions to dissect games beyond what the average viewer can do themselves, mention any of that? of course not, that's way above his pay grade. if Rodgers makes the throw he should have, the Packers go up 14-0 and you're then asking Jimmy Garoppolo to find a way to score at least 15 points the rest of the game. i think they could've played 20 quarters and Jimmy G wouldn't have thrown a TD pass. i take that back, he did actually come very close to throwing about 4 touchdowns..............to the Packers.

maybe i'm a tad salty for reasons explained in other threads, but honestly it just gets to the point where i'm beyond annoyed when it feels like my intelligence is being insulted by someone who is being paid handsomely to provide an advanced perspective to enhance the viewing experience...........yet never does.

Man, Aaron Rodgers looks even worse today than he did after the game last night, that loss really took a toll on him.

I predict he’s back in GB next year. No way he hangs it up.

Rodgers was not happy being passed over by SF in the draft. FWIW Aaron Rodgers is 0-4 against SF in the playoffs.

Rodgers regular season win percentage is 68%, 139-66 and playoff win percentage is 52%, 11-10.
And the last 3 years Green Bay has been the Number 1 seed in the NFC and they are 2-3
in those years and haven't even made it to the Super Bowl. Some serious discrepancies in
the reg. season vs. playoff numbers especially since they are usually the higher ranked team in the playoffs.

I still think it will affect his legacy that he can't win important playoff games against lesser teams.
Brady takes on all comers and whips them indiscriminately. Brady at 44 almost led his team to an
amazing comeback win against LA who has incredible pass rushers. They knew Brady had to throw
the ball to get back in the game but they still didn't stop him. If that was Rodgers it would have
been game over and ended up about 35-3 Rams win.

Nothing great in my opinion about winning a bunch of regular season games if you choke in the playoffs year after year.

What Darin said is true, and for his stinky playoffs, Rodgers is now a famous Owen.

I sure hope he is done and gallops off into the fake cowboy horizon. Today stories are coming out on his latest efforts to try to be a political voice. The word 'putz' is appropriate. He is also mostly a loser in the playoffs in the most recent years despite that crazy big salary that should put him in the SB a couple times in these last few years if he is worth the money. He's got that choke syndrome of some elite athletes - James Harden is another that mostly lays flat when it counts and he is no GOAT for sure. Probably a better way for any team to spend money than to pay him when you can have 5 or 6 elite players at the same price.

Tom Brady has won 10 playoff games against NFC teams in his career. He has played two years in the NFC.

Aaron Rodgers has won 10 playoff games against NFC opponents in his 14 year career

I had to think about that one for a minute, and then go oh yeah. Crazy stat, just proves how much
better Brady is in the big games than Rodgers.

Rodgers sucks in the playoffs, he probably couldn't even ride off into the sunset without screwing it up.
